Dance like a Slovenian!

When visiting a new country, there is no better way to immerse yourself in the culture than by experiencing the traditions of local people.

In one of the most charming capitals of Europe, Ljubljana - you have the chance to participate in and enjoy a night of Slovenian cuisine, dancing and folklore.

Your evening begins with a welcome form the local host and a taste of a traditional Slovenian liqueur accompanied by dried fruits from the region.

Now it is time to sit back and enjoy the dancers and performers, dressed in traditional costume, who will explain to you about their customs. Slovenia has been influenced over the years by the Balkan region as well as Italy, Austria and Germany and this will be seen in the different aspects of the performance.

As you watch the show you are able to enjoy a 3 course meal accompanied by a glass of local Slovenian wine. And no doubt, a chance to join in with the local dancers will be a highlight for many.

The performers are passionate about welcoming you to their country, showing you their traditions and helping you understand what makes Slovenia special.

As one of their performers explained: "I had this "luck"when the board of our group decided that I will be one of the moderators at Traditional Slovenian Evening. At my first performance as a moderator and leader of our small army of dancers, I was quite nervous. My first group was small, around 20 guests from the USA. I have to say the group was very cooperative, funny, willing to work with us and all of us were in a very good mood. Maybe because we were so relaxed and they enjoyed good wine and food at the same time? We introduced them to 3 different dances from 3 different regions, as well as explained why we are dressed the way we are, and involved them in some games, like hats and dancing around the chairs in couples. Anyway, from that performance on, I have always been in the group that traveled to Ljubljana to perform for our guests. In general, my view is very positive; we meet a lot of people from all the parts of our world. Also the leadership of Slovenian Evening Židana Marela or translated "Jolly umbrella" is very positive and friendly, and we are happy to have them promote us and our country.

We sincerely hope we will DANCE again in Slovenia with all people of good will and joy for life.
